let's talk about peace, baby- inwardly and outwardly and cosmically and systemically.
sometimes i wonder if women held more leadership roles, would the world have more peace- more pro-active heads of states regarding diplomacy? or would women lead through an internalized lens of gendered behaviors typical of the opposite sex. however, if traditionally feminine values of communication, empathy, and self-reflection developed in men - if society welcomed these values- if families respected these values in their boys - could we find greater peace in our homes, in our neigborhoods, in our countries, in our world? or do biological forces exist that transcend learned behaviors - such as aggression and material drives.
eh, and at the end of the day - i struggle to find peace in my own mind. too much chaos- too many conflicting views in just one individual. when i become consciously aware that my brain is in full job mode- yearning for a 5 or 10 minute break - i want to find a peaceful moment. this is hard to find. goals, the self-doubting, the to-do lists loom. i need to work on my own peaceful rythmns- how can i expect a world to change when my being feels challenged by the need to shift. i guess peace exists in a moment, in a gesture- in ourselves and around our being - when mindfulness begins and tension of muscles, land boundaries, sexual drives, diverse values and economic supremacy are acknowledged then released.

Well, inner peace only goes so far. I'm not nearly zen enough to think that my inner calm can do much in the midst of chaos all around you.
I'm leaving to participate in peace of a different kind in the Black Rock desert in 3 days, both excited and apprehensive at the same time! I'm really hoping to come away from the experience of Burning Man with something other than a bad suntan and BO.
As for women in places of power bringing about more peace? It's a good question. I'm not certain that it would make a difference anymore. Sounds a bit defeatist, but given the sort of atrocities that are in the news lately, the fleeting liberties of US Citizenship, and the general apathy that has overcome our generation, I'm not sure that peace is on the agenda for us anymore.
Jess you have such a brilliant mind and spirit. I only wish I could slow it down so I could understand it all.
Yes, most definitely the world we be in a better place if women were running the show. In fact, I believe thousands of years ago that is how things were, until one day man started to feel less than, inadequate one might say and decided to use what it had, brute force and strength to gain power. Since then, well, look at the mess we are in.
I do have hope though. I think there are far more conscious people on the earth these days, more than ever.
OK, speaking of inner peace, I'm going to go do some anger release work and journaling, maybe a side dish of mediation. Keep it up Jess, love hearing your thoughts...
an
Jess, can insight be learned? I'm worried. Please reassure me.
